Lipa City in Batangas is one of the most popular destinations in Southern Tagalog during Lenten Season or Holy Week. Not only you will find a lot of places to unwind in Lipa City, but it also homes a collection of stunning and historical churches.
For Filipino Catholic, Holy Week or Semana Santa will never be complete without visiting at least seven churches or what they called “The Seven Churches Visitation” during Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. It is a Filipino Catholic tradition called “panata” or “sacred vow”.
The Seven Churches Visitation is in reference to the Seven Last Words of Jesus or the Seven Holy Wound of Jesus. For other Filipino Catholics, they prefer to visit 14 different Churches, to pray the Way of the Cross at each church to complete the 14 Station of the Cross.
Here’s a list of the churches in Lipa City Batangas that you can add to your Visita Iglesia itinerary.

Holy Week is also a chance to bond and pray with the whole family. No matter how many churches we visit and what prayer we utter during this season, let us please be reminded of the true meaning of Semana Santa celebration. It is the commemoration of the passion, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
