Have you heard of Cotoletta ni Saletta restaurant? Do you love Italian food?
My birthday falls in the month of December, and as most of us know, this month also means heavy traffic in Metro Manila or even in one of the tourist spots near Manila like in Tagaytay City.
So, I was searching for a place to eat where my family could go without the hassle of busy traffic. I was also craving pizza and pasta. Just recently we tried Italianni’s and Da Gianni Cucina Italiana in Alabang, Muntinlupa, it was both good. I thought to myself, maybe try a restaurant like that – with authentic Italian food at an affordable price, but in a less crowded place – with no traffic jam.
Thanks to Facebook ads and reels, Cotoletta ni Saletta just popped into my feed and saw they have a restaurant that offer authentic Italian taste, and they have a branch in Silang Cavite.
Cotoletta ni Saletta is owned by couple Jonie and Matt. Jonie a Filipina and Matt is her Italian husband. Jonie lived in Italy for 9 years while Matt grew up in Milan, a food enthusiast who worked in different restaurant and has a natural skill in cooking. Matt came from a family of great cooks.
They started this restaurant during Pandemic season. Cotoletta Ni Saletta is a restaurant passionate about serving the traditional Milanese dish, the “Cotoletta”.
What is Cotoletta?
Cotoletta is a traditional dish in Milan, Italy. The word Cotoletta means “breaded” meat – it can be veal, pork, or beef or chicken. In Cotoletta ni Saletta restaurant, they choose to use chicken or “pollo”. They serve chicken breast cotoletta. The couple thinks that chicken is more environmentally friendly and healthier.
Why choose the name Cotoletta ni Saletta?
Saletta is Matt’s last name, and it also means “small sala”. The couple thought of offering the traditional food of the city where they came from – something unique to the customers here in the Philippines. The idea is to offer a variety of Cotoletta dishes and when people crave for cotoletta, they will think of Jonie and Matt’s restaurant.

Off we went to Cotoletta ni Saletta Restaurant and these are what we ordered:
- Combo Amatriciana: Cotoletta plus tomato-based pasta with bacon and chili flakes
- Mezza Luna Pizza: Quattro Formaggi, Calzone, Pizza Cotoletta, Pizza Salsiccia
- Cotoletta salad with egg
- Cotoletta with rice and mushroom sauce and salad
- A pitcher of basil lemonade
Since we went there on an ordinary weekday, not all food on the menu is available, which is just okay. I tell you, after this sumptuous meal, we didn’t have enough space in our tummy for dessert, we were so full!
The place where Cotoletta ni Saletta restaurant is located is not a tourist spot, it is situated in a simple neighborhood – which makes the restaurant has this homey feel.
My family’s overall experience with Cotoletta ni Saletta is very satisfying. We enjoyed the food, especially the Quattro Formaggi and Cotoletta Pizza. Everything with chicken cotoletta is so delicious and fulfilling – may it be with rice, salad or pasta. Truly, a must try! And did I say their food is reasonable priced?

One thing that I also love about Cotoletta ni Saletta restaurant is how responsive they are on Facebook messenger when I inquired. They are prompt in their reply and even offered to make a reservation for us right away.
More than the delicious food, it’s also the warmth of service that they provide in Cotoletta ni Saletta restaurant that makes all the experience even more special.
